Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is one of the most important sequelae of Herpes Zoster (HZ). There is as yet no standart treatment for this disorder. In cases studied at autopsy, fibrosis and loss of tissue was found in the nervous system. This elucidates difficulty and variation in the treatment. The aim of treatment is to obtain analgesia and reduce depression and insomnia. Topical agents, systemic pharmacologic treatments, neurostimulatory techniques and neuroablative techniques have been used for this aim. In this paper, clinical trials and practices in the treatment of PHN in recent years were reviewed.

Postherpetik nevralji(PHN), herpes zosterin(HZ) en önemli sekellerinden biri olup, bu gün için standart bir tedavisi yoktur. Otopsi yapılan olgularda; sinir sisteminde doku kaybı ve fibrozise rastlanmıştır. Bu da tedavinin güçlüğünü ve çeşitliliğini açıklar. Tedavide amaç; analjezi sağlamak, anksiyete ve depresyonu azaltmak ve uykusuzluğu düzeltmek olmuştur. Bu amaçla; topikal ajanlar, sistemik farmakolojik tedaviler, nörostimülatör teknikler ve nöroablatif teknikler kullanılmaktadır. Bu yazıda PHN tedavisindeki son yıllardaki araştırma ve uygulamalar derlenmiştir.
