Paneth cells that occur regularly in the bottom of cyrpts of Lieberkühn in the small intestine are pyramidal-shape cells that contain largely eosinophilic granules. These cells are rarely present in extragastrointestinal sites. A 57 years old patient was operated for testicular mass. Pathologic diagnosis of the testicular mass was seminom. In the non-tumoral epididymis tissue widely distributed paneth cell like change was seen during microscopic examination. In this report I have discussed the mechanism of paneth cell like changes, structure of secretory granules and whether these changes are true metaplasia.

Paneth hücreleri incebarsakta Lieberkühn kriptlerinin bazalinde yerleşik iri sekretuar granülleri olan piramidal şekilli hücrelerdir. Gastrointestinal sistem dışı organlarda nadir görülür. Testiste kitle nedeni ile opere edilen 57 yaşındaki hastada patolojik değerlendirmede seminom tespit edildi. Nontümöral epididim dokusunda yaygın Paneth hücre benzeri değişiklikler görüldü. Bu çalışmada epididimde nadir görülen Paneth hücre benzeri değişikliklerin oluş mekanizması, sekretuar granüllerin yapısı, gerçek bir metaplazi olup olmadığı tartışıldı.
